In the next RadioLand we've got music about New York that has been featured in the films of Woody Allen - Wed 6pm, Sat 9am 89.9fm

Woody Allen and New York.  Until recently, Allen would shoot almost exclusively in the city and his images of the Big Apple paired with some of the greatest jazz, classical and pop music of all time make for some of the most striking moments in cinema history.  We'll begin with Rhapsody in Blue from the film "Manhattan".  I would suggest that there has rarely been a more fitting and stirring combination of image and sound on screen than the opening and closing moments from "Manhattan".

Featured soundtracks from other films:
Radio Days
Manhattan Murder Mystery
Bullets over Broadway
The Purple Rose of Cairo
The Curse of the Jade Scorpion

RadioLand update: We're heading to the city that never sleeps for a Big Apple Bonanza on the next RadioLand. NYC - here we come! Wednesday at 6pm, Saturday at 9am - 89.9fm in Virginia and worldwide!

We've got a lot of great tunes for this week's RadioLand.

First up, one of my all time favorites, Mel Torme - The Velvet Fog - brings "Songs of New York" including his renditions of "Autumn in New York" and "Let me off uptown".

Harry Connick Jr. is featured with tunes from the 1989 classic soundtrack from "When Harry Met Sally".

We round things out with Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett's duet rendition of "New York, New York".
